
Paige Glovenski Joins The 1,000 POINT CLUB

It has been close to a decade since a female student athlete to reach the 1,000-point milestone for High School Girls Basketball at Antietam or Mt. Penn. January 13, 2018 playing against the Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes, Paige Glovenski (Junior/Guard) finished with 27 points allowing her to be the 9th player to join the club and being part of the very few.
During the 3rd quarter, Paige reached the milestone with a three-point shot from the top of the key putting her over the goal.
Sheridan Walker had 13 points, eight assists and 10 rebounds, and Katura McCorkle had 10 points and 16 rebounds for Antietam. Kyla Umbenhauer led the Hurricanes with 16 points.
The Mounts defeated the Hurricanes 70-42 at Schuylkill Haven High School.

Mt. Penn Lady Vipers - Elementary Girls Basketball
Practice over the holidays is set for Tuesday through Saturday (12/26-12/30) from 1pm to 3pm. Practice is for Antietam School District girls in grades 4th through 6th being held at the Antietam High School Gymnasium. This is a great time to learn, have fun, make new friends, and get ready to compete against Berks County Schools.
After the Holidays, practices will resume on Friday, Saturday, Sunday in January at its normal scheduled time.
Our youth players will be supervised by our Head High School Girls Basketball Coach (Joseph Andrieux, M.Ed), Coached by Volunteer and Responsible Adult Coaches, and assisted by current and former HS Girls Basketball Players. Our team is insured and sponsored by AAU Scarlet Knights LLC (2008).
We are looking for volunteers to help with home games:

Welcome to the Berks County Girls Youth Basketball League (BCGYBL).
2018 Elementary Girls Basketball Season is under way. Please come out on Sunday at 3:30pm to 5pm. Registration forms can be picked up by the concession stand at the HS Girls Basketball Games and can be completed and submitted on Sunday before or after practice.
Online registration information will also be provided and preferred for sign-ups.
Game schedule will be available on Sunday
This is a great time for our girls to learn, build confidence, get in shape, make new friends while having fun. Please keep in mind that there is also a championship league tournament at the end of the season. This is a great time for family and friends to show support.

Fall League Girls Basketball Tournaments set for October 28th & 29th at Boyertown High School and then November 4th & 5th at Freedom High School for the AAU Lady Vipers of Mt. Penn
Great opportunity for all Antietam girls, grades 9th through 12th, to have fun and test their skills before the actual season. Open Gym is scheduled for Saturday 10am to Noon, Sunday 6pm to 8pm, and Wednesday 630pm to 730pm.

Christine Eppler - Receives Recognition from U.S. Congressman

Christine Eppler (Class of '17) received recognition from U.S. Congressman Ryan Costello for her countless hours of devotion in helping others within the community. Christine received a U.S. Flag (5 feet x 9 feet) that was flown above the U.S. Capital Building located in Washington D.C. in March. The flag was encased in a display case folded by 2 U.S. Air-Force Officers and later presented at the Antietam Sports Boosters Banquet on June 4th at the Antietam Recreation Center. The encased flag came with a certificate of authenticity and a message from U.S. Congressman Ryan Costello representing our 6th District of Pennsylvania.
Christine has dedicated her time to academics, athletics, and community service in which she has accumulated over 350 hours. She has devoted her time in teaching and training elementary school girls how to play volleyball and basketball within the Antietam School District. She has also helped in supporting the Berks Women in Crisis Center located in Reading and participated in feeding the needy from the Reading Salvation Army located on 5th & Spruce Street.
She will be attending a 4-year college in North Carolina majoring in Culinary Arts & Hospitality Management with a minor in Marketing and is committed in playing Women's College Basketball at Johnson & Wales University.

2017-2018: Open Gym for High School Girls Basketball

Grades 9 through 12:
Open Gym Workouts are held on Mondays and Wednesdays at 630pm to 730pm and on Saturdays at 930am to 1130am. Sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays are held at the High School Gymnasium (Weight Room). Saturday sessions are held at Berks Elite Training. We leave as a group from the Mt. Penn Primary Center located on Endlich Street to travel to Sinking Spring. Parents are welcome to attend and participate. Help with transportation is appreciated.
This is a wonderful opportunity for any female student who may be interested in playing in the 2017-2018 winter season to get their bodies and mind in shape. These are Open Gym Workout Sessions. They are not mandatory for any Antietam Female Student. This is just to provide any student the opportunity to prepare themselves for the Winter Season Girls Basketball Season.

Sheridan Walker reached the 2017 USJN Nike National Championships: Final Four

Sheridan Walker scored 11 points in a devastating loss in the 2017 USJN Nike National Championship Semi-Finals. This was the first time the Philadelphia Belles - Team Andrieux (17u) reached this far at the USJN Nike National Championships. Final score was 59-50.
They kept pace with IN - NWI Thunder the entire game going back and forth exchanging the lead in the game, but in the final minutes of the 4th quarter. Team Andrieux came into foul trouble sending opposing players to the free-throw line. Sheridan commented, "It was a great run and I am glad that I was able to contribute and be a part of this team during the entire AAU Season."

Philadelphia Belles - Team Andrieux (17u), with a decisive 58 to 29 win over the PA - Delco Wildcats 17u in the quarterfinals early this morning. They will now face IN - NWI Thunder in the semi-finals at 1pm. All playoff games are being streamed live from the Gaylord National Harbor in Oxon Hill Maryland.
This is a great week thus far for Berks County and Antietam. There were 4 teams with a player from Berks County. All 3 teams did not reach the playoffs except for Sheridan Walker and her Philadelphia Belles - Team Andrieux 17u.

Sheridan Walker Heads for Nike National Championships in DC

Antietam Class of '18, Sheridan Walker and the Philadelphia Belles - Team Andrieux (17U) head into the USJN (US Junior National) Nike National Girls Basketball Championship at the Gaylord Resort & Convention Center this 4-day weekend. With over 400 teams around the country competing for the top spot in the US, players are seeking national recognition before 800 college coaches and recruiters amongst NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA Division I and II, and Junior Colleges. The motto is "Winners Stay."
With a possible reserved spot on a women's college basketball team and some form of athletic scholarship to help pay for college is on the line, players around the country will be more than focus, they will be playing hard. Team Andrieux heads into the national championship with a record of 35 wins and 19 losses this 2017 AAU Season and a 5-0 Championship Tournament win. Thus far Philadelphia Bells - Team Andrieux played in 14 USJN Tournaments across the country.

Antietam Girls Basketball - 14th Annual (EYBL) Tournament

News for Antietam Basketball:
Our girls just returned from a High School Girls Basketball Camp at Rider University (Division I) in Lawrenceville, NJ. With over 120 high school female athletes from all over the northeast united states, our Antietam young ladies received great instruction from college coaches while participating in fast-pace drills, exercises, and scrimmages. With great food and a great environment, our girls had a memorable time.
Now Antietam Girls Basketball - Sheridan Walker is in Indianapolis, Indiana along with Coach Andrieux and the Philadelphia Belles competing in the nation's 14th annual Nike EYBL Tournament. With over 200 colleges present along with 300 teams competing, Sheridan Walker is seeking basketball exposure on a national scale. Thus far, she has received interests from several colleges prior to this tournament.
