2017 Girls Spring & Summer Volleyball Camps - Coming Soon

Camps and Clinics

7.0 years ago

As we did in 2016, we will have three girls volleyball camps and clinics at Antietam Middle Senior High School. Schedule will be made available in March. 2017 Camps and Clinics are highly encouraged for female students in grades 4th through 11th. This is the best time and opportunity to learn from collegiate coaches and players.

A 2-Day Summer Volleyball Camp in Hatboro, PA will be provided for all interested female high school players (entering grades 9 through 12 for the 2017-2018 Academic School Year). We will have several fundraisers to help sponsor Antietam players. Participation in the 2-day summer camp is highly encouraged if you wish to play at the high school level.

Here are some questions for you to think about:

Question #1. Do you jump up with your legs when you pass?
Question #2. Do you hit balls into the net, or out when serving?
Question #3. Do you hit balls from the shoulder when spiking?
Question #4. Do you set the ball to your hitters?
Question #5. Do you watch the ball when playing defense?

Here are the answers to the above questions...

Answer #1:
Advanced players bend into the ball at the waist when passing. It is how we control the ball and deal with power.

Answer #2:
If you are serving balls out or into the net, you are hitting the ball from the shoulder instead of snapping from your elbow.

Answer #3:
75% of your power is generated from your elbow and wrist when spiking. You also get a phenomenon called "Extension" when you snap from your elbow.

Answer #4:
Advanced players set the hitter not the ball. It is done by knowing what to watch when setting and keeping your hitters headed in the right direction.

Answer #5:
There are three things we watch when we play defense: The hitter, the hitter and the hitter. We do not watch the ball or block.
